Phillies Then and Now

Remember that time/space axis thing what I said about baseball? Hop aboard my groovy blog-o-vator for a trip through time. Ummm, here are some Phillies notables, in honor of the dudes in Clearwater.

'91 Fleer Art Cards

Fleer put out this special edition in 1991 featuring the absolute cream of baseballs best. It features a few future juicers, which adds irony to Barry Bonds' toxic bat and Mark McGuire with the U.S. flag. Each of these has a cool tagline on the back like "Bionic Bo" or Darryl Strawberry "Nuclear Powered". I like how at this point all these dudes are still with their original or iconic teams, no Bo Jackson on the White Sox or Jose Canseco on the Rangers. Where's Griffey?

'86 Topps

Just a taste of 1986... big ups to the Main Man, without whom none of this would be possible. Ricky Henderson HOF 2009!

'87 Topps

My first piece in the medium of scan was predestined to be the 1987 Topps set. Well, not the whole set, just the cards that I have that mean something to me, the dudes who made it happen and made me love baseball at 7 years old. The '87 set will always be the greatest, not only for following that epic '86 season with all it's star rookies, but it is also wood-pannelled. Dig how cards weren't perfectly cut or colored! Clearly I'm missing some greats, but this is straight from my collection. This post dedicated to mc Ben, aka "Mr. 1987."
